One of the famous and leading television producer, Gautam Adhikari, who is considered to be one of the pioneers of the Marathi TV industry, passed away at his home he was suffering from brief illness according to his family declared. Gautam lived with his wife Ranjana and two children. The last rituals of his will be going to perform at 11 pm in Vile Parle area in Mumbai.  Gautam and his brother Mark and together started a company-- Sri Adhikari Brothers (SAB) Group - in 1985 as a small family owned partnership firm. It went on to become the first publicly-listed television production company in India when it was listed on the BSE in 1995. The company initially produced serials in Marathi but soon ventured into film distribution & production business.

It is a leading Indian M&E conglomerate with interests in broadcast, films, content production and publishing. The group also established SAB channel, which runs Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah among other popular shows. Gautam Adhikari, who has the degree of a commercial art, he had directed several films and serials. His name was listed in the Limca Books of Records 1999 for “directing maximum episodes”.
